The Office of the Sheriff is responsible for providing executive leadership, direction, and administrative support to all divisions within the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office. This includes budgeting, organization, planning, research, program development, media relations, community affairs, etc. The Office of the Sheriff also works closely with the County Commission; federal, state, and local agencies and representatives; and the Tennessee Sheriff’s Association regarding areas of mutual concern. The Office of the Sheriff is comprised of Sheriff Michael Van Dyke , Chief Deputy Charles Clark, and the Executive Assistant/PIO Jessica Drake.

Sheriff Michael Van Dyke
Sheriff Van Dyke is a long time resident of Robertson County. He began his career in law enforcement at the age of 18 with the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office as a Reserve Deputy. He worked his way through college as a full-time police officer with the Austin Peay State University Police Department and the Clarksville Ranger Division. Upon graduation from APSU with a Bachelor of Science Degree, he was appointed as the commander of the Clarksville Rangers. After the City of Clarksville consolidated the Ranger Division and the Police Department, Sheriff Van Dyke went to work for the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office until his appointment as Chief Deputy Sheriff of Robertson County in 2010. Sheriff Van Dyke was elected Sheriff of Robertson County in 2018 and again in 2022.
Sheriff Van Dyke has spent the vast majority of his career in law enforcement management and administration. He has attended numerous specialized schools over his career, some of which are Law Enforcement Management and Administration, Command Decision, the University of Tennessee’s Municipal Management Academy, Internal Affairs, Tennessee Law Enforcement Executive Development, FBI Executive Leadership, Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design, and many others. Sheriff Van Dyke is also a graduate of Leadership Robertson County and Leadership Middle Tennessee.
He is an Eagle Scout, an honor graduate of Jo Byrns High School, and a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Austin Peay State University. Sheriff Van Dyke is married to Marissa Highsmith Van Dyke and has three children. His family resides on their farm where they raise Wagyu Cattle, Hay, and Bielefelder Chickens. He attends Cedar Hill Baptist Church. He is a member of the Tennessee Sheriff’s Association and currently serves as the 2nd Vice President of the TSA. He also serves as the Chairman of the TSA’s Agriculture Crimes Committee and on the Tennessee Sheriff’s Association Finance Committee. He is a member of the National Sheriff’s Association, TN Dangerous Drugs Taskforce, Robertson County Juvenile Taskforce, Robertson County Chamber of Commerce, White House Chamber of Commerce, Robertson County 911 Board, Springfield Rotary Club, Robertson County Cattlemen’s Association, Tennessee Cattlemen’s Association, and the Red River Masonic Lodge. He also serves as the President of the Friends of the GREAT Summer Games. |

Chief Deputy Charlie Clark
Chief Clark began his career with the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office in 2000. During his career he has been assigned to the Divisions of Corrections, Patrol, School Resource Officers, and the Drug Abuse Resistance Education program. Chief Clark also spent part of his career with the Springfield Police Department serving on Bike Patrol and the Narcotics Unit before returning to the Sheriff’s Office. Throughout his career he has been involved with the Tennessee Gang Investigators Association, Tennessee School Resource Officers Association, Tennessee DARE Officers Association and National School Resource Officers Association and Neighborhood Watch. His certifications include D.A.R.E., SRO, and Neighborhood Watch, as well as, basic and advanced Gang Investigation. Chief Clark holds a BS in Criminal Justice from Bethel University. |

Jessica Drake, Exec. Asst. | Public Information Officer
Jessica Drake has served with the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office for over 8 years. Jessica started her career with the Sheriff’s Office in 2013 as a Corrections Officer, transitioned to Court Officer, and is now the Executive Assistant to the Sheriff and the Public Information Officer for the Sheriff’s Office. As an executive assistant, Jessica assists the Sheriff and Chief Deputy with administrative tasks. As the Public Information Officer, Jessica is responsible for all media relations including media inquiries, press releases, and social media. Jessica holds a Masters of Professional Studies in Homeland Security: Geo spatial-Intelligence and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Pennsylvania State University. |
