School Resource Officers

The Robertson County Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officer Division works in a cooperative effort with the Robertson County School System’s administrators, faculty, staff, students, and parents; Juvenile Court; community leaders; and other public services for a common goal of providing a safe and secure atmosphere that is conducive to learning. Through education and enforcement, the SRO Division strives to hold juveniles responsible for their actions and prevent individual acts from becoming a pattern of delinquency. The Robertson County Sheriff’s Office has Deputies assigned to Krisle Elementary School, Coopertown Middle School, Jo Byrns Elementary School, Jo Byrns High School, Springfield Middle School, Springfield High School, East Robertson Elementary School, East Robertson High School, Greebrier Middle School, Greenbrier High School, White House Heritage, and the Robertson County Alternative School.

Lieutenant James Kendrick

School Resource Officer Division

Lt. Kendrick began his career with the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office in August 2001 serving as a Corrections Officer, and then as a Corrections Sergeant until 2004 when he transferred to the Court Security Division where he served in the roles of Court Security, Inmate Transportation, and Warrants. Lt. Kendrick was promoted to serve as a Deputy in the Patrol Division in 2007 and completed the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy’s Basic Police School in May 2007. Lt. Kendrick served many roles while assigned to the Patrol Division; including, Patrol Corporal, FTO, and Patrol Sergeant. Lt. Kendrick transferred to the Criminal Investigations Division in 2012 to serve as a Detective where he investigated crimes against children, professional standards, property, and general crimes. Lt. Kendrick has received instruction in criminal investigation and evidence collection, electronic forensics and evidence, interview and interrogation, human resources, background investigations, criminal law, search warrants, child abductions, child sex abuse, pediatric deaths, internal affairs investigations, instructor development, crisis negotiations, property room management, leadership courses, and various other training instruction encompassing his career serving the citizens of Robertson County. Lt. Kendrick is certified as an instructor in emergency vehicle operations, radar/ lidar, and firearms. Lt. Kendrick has served as the Commander of the Crisis Negotiations Unit since 2015. Lt. Kendrick is a graduate of Jo Byrns High School and holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Bethel University.

Sergeant David Barbour

School Resource Officer Division

Sgt. Barbour began his career with the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office in 2013. A native of Memphis, TN, he began his law enforcement career with the Memphis Police Department in 2005. During his career with the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office, he has held positions in several divisions including Corrections, Patrol, and the School Resource Officer Division. Sgt. Barbour is a certified SRO and Field Training Officer. He has also received specialized training in several areas including Life Skills, Handle with Care, Juvenile Mental Health, Interview and Interrogation, and SRO Leadership.

Sergeant Donnie Brake

School Resource Officer Division

Sgt. Brake began his career with the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office in 2004.  During his career, he has been assigned various positions including Corrections, Patrol, K-9, and School Resource Officer.  Sgt. Brake also holds several certifications including SWAT, Field Training Officer (FTO), and SRO among others. He is currently a Sergeant within the School Resource Officer Division.  Before Sgt. Brake started his career with the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office he spent 4 years in the United States Marine Corps.
