POLICE MEMORIAL WEEK 2015 IS MAY 11-15

Springfield, TN, May 8, 2015–Beginning in 1962, President John F. Kennedy declared May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day, and the week as National Police Week. Since then dedications take place across the nation to honor and memorialize law enforcement officers that have paid the ultimate sacrifice.

Next week, is National Police Week 2015. A Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony will be held at the Robertson County Courthouse on Monday, May 11 at noon. We will honor those from Robertson County agencies that have fallen in the line of duty and those across the nation. The public is invited to attend this ceremony.

In 2014, there were 127 line of duty deaths of law enforcement officers in the United States. There have already been 42 in 2015.

“It is important to remember the sacrifices that these officers made by paying the ultimate price,” said Sheriff Bill Holt. “We must never forget the dangers law enforcement officers face each and every day.”
