Springfield, TN, April 16, 2015– Late Monday afternoon, Sumner County issued a BOLO for a gray Chevrolet bearing Kentucky tags wanted for burglaries in Sumner County. An officer with the White House Police Department observed the vehicle at mile marker 108 on I-65 South and gave pursuit. The pursuit continued onto Bethel Road and the suspect bailed and ran at the intersection of Bethel and Lake Road. Officers had already called for assistance from Millersville, Greenbrier, Ridgetop, and the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office. A search was initiated by all agencies in this area without success.
On Tuesday morning, Cuevas was spotted operating a stolen four-wheel ATV on Betts Road in Greenbrier which he abandoned and fled on foot. A short time later, Cuevas approached a family on Abednego Road asking for a ride to Nashville. When he was recognized by the citizens, he fled on foot. The sheriff’s office, Coopertown Police Department, Greenbrier Police Department with Metro K-9 and THP helicopter began the search to no avail.
We have no reason to believe the subject is still in the Robertson County area. He has no local ties and his last known address was in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Cuevas has an extensive arrest record for thefts and burglaries which are all non-violent crimes. Based on the information of him attempting to obtain a ride to Nashville, it is believe that the subject made it out of our county. He has communicated to family that he intends to make it to California.
We want to thank the citizens for the tips, and we encourage everyone to be cognizant of their surroundings. We also encourage them to keep their vehicles and outdoor equipment locked and remove the keys. As always, if anyone sees something suspicious, we would appreciate a call and continue to be a good neighbor.
Call your local law enforcement anytime you see something that doesn’t seem right, because it probably isn’t. We depend on your help.
