MAJOR CRAWFORD NAMED JAIL ADMINISTRATOR OF THE YEAR IN TENNESSEE

Springfield, TN, August 26, 2014– Robertson County Detention Facility’s Jail Administrator was recently named Jail Administrator of the Year in Tennessee. Major Tony Crawford was presented with the award at the Tennessee Sheriffs’ Association’s recent annual conference in Sevierville, TN. Major Crawford has been the Jail Administrator for the Robertson County Detention Facility since being appointed to the position in 2010 by Sheriff Bill Holt.

Each year, the Tennessee Corrections Institute presents the award of Jail Administrator of the Year after selecting the deserving winner from nominees. Major Crawford’s extensive law enforcement and corrections career spans over 36 years including experience at the Federal Bureau of Prisons and a 21-year career with the U.S. Marshals’ Service.

Since becoming jail administrator, Major Crawford has instituted many positive changes including new programs within the detention facility such as an Alcoholics Anonymous program, Narcotics Anonymous, and a GED program. The GED program, a partnership with Workforce Essentials, has been overwhelmingly successful producing many graduates.

“I am extremely proud of Tony and everything he and his staff have accomplished in four years,” said Sheriff Bill Holt. “We are extremely blessed to have him as part of our management team. He is very deserving of this award, and I am glad to see his hard work recognized.”
